Apart from having necessary land and required financial resources to open a school in India, sustaining its operations until it becomes financially independent and ensuring the continuous advancement of the school are the key factors for the success of any school project. Let us examine the individual qualities that determine one’s eligibility to open a school in India –

Who is eligible to start a school in India?


  1. Strong inclination to give back to the community via education
  2. Must be an adult not in conflict with the law
  3. Prioritizes time for the school
  4. Does not have proprietary motivations or any vested interest in opening a school
  5. Can arrange for legitimate funds to establish and operate the school

  15. Understanding of contemporary dynamics of society, technology. Science, polity etc.
  16. Envisages an outline of the future of children studying in the school
  17. Courage to stand accountable for failures

  22. Not inclined to “end justify means” theory
