BBMP Survey Tracks School Dropouts Across Bengaluru

This initiative is to correctly determine the number of school dropouts among children aged 6 to 18 years. The survey is being conducted through the Karnataka H2H Children Survey app, which is available on the government’s digital platform and managed by the Centre for E-Governance Department. BBMP has appointed the Joint Commissioners of the eight zones as nodal officers to oversee the process. The ground-level data collection is being carried out by a team consisting of tailoring teachers from the education department, ASHA workers, anganwadi workers, and junior health inspectors.

Each ward has around ten enumerators who are visiting every household and recording the children’s details directly into the survey app. Among the 8 zones, the South zone has recorded the highest number of out-of-school children, identifying 2,933 dropouts so far. The BBMP’s systematic efforts aim to bring these children back to school by first determining the scale of the issue.
