Major transformation of the education sector started in India with the launch of the National Education policy (NEP) 2020. Recently, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) released the draft for school education for public feedback. An expert committee created by the union government has recommended board exams twice a year, a semester system for class 12, and allowing students to choose from a variety of scientific, humanities, and business topics, among other changes. To achieve gender equality in India’s schools, gender-neutral uniforms, mixed-gender sports teams, balanced gender representation in textbooks, and classroom discussions on gender problems, has been proposed in the draft national curriculum framework. Discussions at the 3rd G20 Education Working Group meeting is based on integrating and formalizing skill education in the schooling system, foundational literacy and numeracy, tech-enabled learning, future of work, and research collaboration.
