‘Desh ke Mentors’ Programme launched by Delhi CM

‘Desh ke Mentors’ Programme, aimed at providing career guidance to the students of Delhi government schools, was launched by the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. In this programme, students from grades 9 to 12 will be connected to distinguished citizens who are successful in their respective fields, for receiving guidance on career choices.

As part of this initiative, interested citizens can become mentors by adopting 1 to 10 students and give ten to fifteen minutes every week to guide them over the phone about various aspects. Actor Sonu Sood was appointed as the brand ambassador for this project.

Comparing this programme to the family model, the Chief Minister said that just like the elder siblings in a family guide their younger siblings, the students would get an elder sibling in this programme with whom they can share everything, leading to the whole country becoming a big family. He further stated that this will enable people to see beyond the divisive fault lines of caste, religion, etc., and will unite the country.

Citizens interested to become mentors under this programme can register on Desh ke Mentors app which was developed by a team from DTU (Delhi Technological University). Based on the alignment of their profiles and interests, this app will connect students and mentors. A two-month mandatory module and an optional four-month module is included in this programme. Aged between 18 and 35 years, the mentors will be from various professional and academic backgrounds. They will be instrumental in the overall development of the students by supporting and guiding them.

Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the people of the country to contribute towards nation-building by joining this initiative.
