Monthly Newsletter |October 2020 |Volume 18
Dear Readers,
I am glad to present before you the October edition of the School 360 Newsletter.
After a protracted lockdown of the schools across the country and the hanging uncertainty regarding the academic session and logistics thereof, finally, some news is coming in suggesting that the reopening may be in the offing. However, statements from the state governments are very qualified and they all seem to have reservations regarding the reopening of the schools. And I must say, they have perfectly good reason to be extremely careful and its best to err on the side of caution. Some states have decided to curtail the syllabus for the current academic year, in view of the disruption caused by the pandemic. I am sure, we are going to see important policy recommendations and rulings that have a bearing on the 2020-21 academic session in the coming weeks.
In this edition, we have covered the salient issues that are deservedly claiming the headlines. This edition has items related to the proposed timelines for the implementation of the National Curriculum Framework, the precursor of the New Education Policy, and ministerial statement about other nations showing interest in NEP; then, we have the NCPCR initiative concerning the psychological health of children amidst the pandemic, and the Kerala’s welfare policies for the students from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and Tamil Nadu’s announcement about the modalities of the school reopening. Finally, we have included the positions of the states (the ones who have come on record about it) on schools’ reopening.
Happy Schooling !

The government of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu has clarified its position on one specific modality of school opening.
