An analysis of the user data retrieved from the central government’s digital Infrastructure for school Education named DIKSHA has placed Gujarat first among states in the use of the portal, for the ‘direct play’ category.
The data retrieved from the DIKSHA portal and analyzed corresponds to the dates between April 1 and October 21. The state has ranked highest in the ‘Direct Play’ category.
The state-wise analysis of data collected from DIKSHA portal — the Digital Infrastructure for School Education — an initiative of the Ministry of Education, from April 1 till October 21, reveals that Gujarat is at the top among other states in the “direct plays” category.
The ‘direct plays’ reveal how many times live initiatives and online learning sessions were accessed on the portal. Gujarat had an impressive 17.5 million direct plays.
When other categories that were accounted for such as ETB-Energised Textbooks that have QR code, digital replications of the textbook content, Gujarat stood at 4th position and in 5th place for the category called ‘course plays’.
The ‘Course plays” category count shows the total online courses accessed by children. Gujarat recorded 67.6 million only behind M.P. which recorded 128 million.
According to, Ms. P. Bharati, the State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, the cumulative count of digital activities that students in Gujarat engaged in stands at 54.1 million.
She added a new perspective by saying that the numbers are a reflection of the success of the state government’s home learning online course, a certificate course for government teachers. According to her, in around 2 lakh government teachers, the district-wise enrolment has reached 93%. Certain districts lag though, these include Dang, Kutch, and Dahod.
