CBSE Mandates CCTV Surveillance for Board Exams by 2025

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a new policy requiring the installation of CCTV cameras in all schools designated as board exam centres for the 2025 class 10 and 12 exams. According to a report by NDTV, approximately 44 lakh students will be taking the exams, with 8,000 schools set to serve as exam centres across India. The move aims to ensure fair conduct during the exams by closely monitoring all activities within the exam halls.

Schools that fail to install CCTV cameras as per the directive will be disqualified as exam centres. The cameras must record high-resolution footage throughout the exam period, with recordings kept confidential and accessible only to higher authorities. These recordings will be stored for two months after the exams conclude. CBSE has also suggested that all students and teachers must be informed about the presence of CCTV cameras to maintain transparency while preserving the confidentiality of the footage.

Additionally, to ensure efficient monitoring, one person will be assigned to oversee every 10 exam halls. This policy is part of CBSE's broader effort to prevent malpractice and uphold the integrity of the exam process. Schools are expected to comply with the guidelines to continue serving as examination centres in the future.
