CBSE Denies Reports of Inability to Conduct Biannual Board Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) clarified on Monday that it has not communicated with the Ministry of Education (MoE) about the feasibility of conducting biannual board examinations. CBSE dismissed media reports suggesting that the board had informed the MoE that holding board exams for classes 10 and 12 twice a year was unfeasible under the current academic schedule.

Using the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), CBSE denied the claims, stating that the reports are incorrect and lack any basis in communications between the ministry and the board. The controversy arose after some media outlets reported that CBSE had conveyed its stance to the MoE during a National Curriculum Framework 2023 program on June 25 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

These reports suggested that CBSE schools' global presence makes it impossible to conduct biannual board exams under the current system and policies. Last year, the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) recommended biannual exams to provide students with additional opportunities to perform well and reduce the workload and stress associated with board exams.
