Pilot for National Credit Framework Initiation by CBSE for Grades 6, 9, & 11

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the government introduced the National Credit Framework (NCrF) to facilitate the easy integration of school, higher, and vocational education. Under this framework, students can accrue credits from various activities such as classroom learning, laboratory work, projects, sports, performing arts, NCC, social work, vocational education, and experiential learning. In response to this initiative, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has developed draft guidelines to implement the framework.

Following multiple workshops and approval from the Ministry of Education, the CBSE is set to launch a pilot of the National Credit Framework (NCF) for classes 6, 9, and 11 starting from the academic session 2024-25. As a result, the board has invited all its affiliate schools to participate in this pilot program. The pilot aims to assess the effectiveness of the guidelines in real-world contexts and refine them accordingly. Interested school principals are requested to register their schools through a provided link.

The CBSE emphasizes that the assessment for earning credits will be competency and learning outcome-based, aiming to bridge the gap in achieving learning outcomes. Upon successful completion, students' earned credits will be deposited in their Academic Bank of Credit (ABC), which will be linked with their APAAR ID and DigiLocker for future reference. This pilot program marks a significant step towards aligning education with competency-based learning outcomes, paving the way for a more holistic and integrated education system.
