Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs), approved by the Cabinet, to increase the access to quality education. These schools will support over 82,000 students and create a lot of job opportunities. The project has a budget of Rs.5,872.08 crore spread over eight years from 2025-26.
Currently, there are 1,256 functional KVs, including three abroad in Moscow, Kathmandu, and Tehran, serving 13.56 lakh students. The new Navodaya Vidyalayas will expand residential education further which becomes advantageous to rural students, fulfilling the objectives of the National Education Policy. Also it is important to note that the Cabinet approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor under Delhi Metro Phase-IV.
This 26.463-km stretch with 21 top-tier stations will enhance connectivity between Delhi and Haryana, making commuting easier. These initiatives aim to provide affordable education and improved infrastructure for better opportunities across the country.
