The Union Ministry of Education is marking the fourth anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020 with a week-long campaign, "Shiksha Saptah," aimed at enhancing community involvement in education. An official release recently detailed the campaign's activities and goals, highlighting the Department of School Education and Literacy's efforts to involve schools and communities. As part of the Shiksha Saptah campaign, the Ministry of Education is emphasising the Vidyanjali and Tithi Bhojan initiatives in seven schools across the country.
Vidyanjali, a school volunteer management programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 7, 2021, aims to strengthen schools and improve education quality through community, CSR, and private sector involvement. The Department of School Education and Literacy has suggested various activities for schools during the campaign. Schools are encouraged to onboard themselves to the Vidyanjali portal and identify local volunteers to provide support. Active volunteers will be acknowledged on a "Wall of Fame/Notice Board" within schools. Principals, teachers, and students will also write letters of gratitude to these volunteers.
To raise community awareness, schools will organize rallies, street plays, and poster- and chart-making activities highlighting volunteer contributions. State and district officials are participating to ensure the campaign's success, in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020's goal of increasing community participation in education. These activities aim to create a robust support system for students and teachers, developing a better learning environment by uniting schools, volunteers, and the community through the Vidyanjali portal.
