Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar jointly launched some major initiatives of the New Education Policy, and a booklet on One-year NEP 2020 Achievements. During this August 24 event, the following key initiatives of NEP 2020 were launched –
NIPUN Bharat Tools and resources on DIKSHA: FLN (Foundational Learning and Numeracy) identifies two critical Gateway skills – ability to read simple sentences with meaning and solve basic math problems by the end of Class 3. Tools for building these skills have been added on the DIKSHA portal under the NIPUN Bharat program. These skills are critical to prepare children for further meaningful learning in higher classes.
Virtual school of NIOS: The National School of Open Schooling has started a virtual version on advanced digital learning platforms. This is a new model of learning, leveraging technology and innovation aimed at allowing more inclusion in education.
Alternate Academic calendar of NCERT: This has been developed to facilitate teachers and parents to assess the progress in learning of children. This has week-wise plans of interesting and challenging activities, which are also linked to syllabus or textbook topics.
Release of ‘Priya – The Accessibility Warrior’: Book developed by NCERT and Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) to sensitise the students on accessibility related issues for Divyangs, and ultimately to create an accessible academic environment for everyone.
