As a way of promoting Sanskrit education in the schools of Uttar Pradesh and making school students accustomed to the rich heritage of the Sanskrit language, the government of UP has recently decided to launch 10 new government Sanskrit secondary schools in the state.
The districts where these schools are planning to be established are - Varanasi, Rae Bareli, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Shamli, Jalaun, Etah, Amethi and Hardoi.
According to sources, establishing these intermediate-level Sanskrit schools in the state is one the top priorities of the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
After receiving in-principle consent from the state government, the officials of the State Directorate of Education have appealed for the allocation of funds for the construction of these schools.
For the creation of Sanskrit schools, the UP government made a provision of INR 100 crore in its 2023-24 budget. The UP government is also working on opening Government Sanskrit Secondary Schools of intermediate level in another five districts of UP, including Ayodhya,Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot and Mathura.
