CBSE’s Strict Cut Offs on Subject Changes and Direct Admissions

The CBSE has instructed all affiliated schools to follow the timelines strictly for subject change requests and direct admissions in Classes 10 and 12 for the 2025 2026 academic session. The board made it clear that meeting deadlines is compulsory to ensure the related preparations and timely conduct of examinations in its notice. Schools must not think of any calls beyond the cut off dates.

Strict

Direct Admission Deadline

The last date for direct admissions in Classes 10 and 12 is August 31, 2025. Schools must collect all cases with supporting documents in tabular form and send them to their regional offices by September 2, 2025. Regional offices must finish approvals by September 15, 2025. Admissions after August 31 will be granted for the children of government employees who are transferred mid session. Such cases must be reported to the regional office within 2 days of admission.

Deadlines for Subject Change

The last date for submitting subject change petitions for Classes 10 and 12 is August 31, 2025. Collected lists with documents must reach regional offices by September 2, 2025. Regional offices will provide final approvals by September 15, 2025.

Sub Regional and New Regional Offices

4 new CBSE regional offices will become functional from September 1, 2025. Parent regional offices will process subject change events. 3 new sub regional offices at Itanagar, Gangtok, and Agartala will route all cases via Guwahati for the 2025 2026 session.

Rigid Compliance Needed

CBSE has repeated that schools must not have any petitions for subject changes and direct admission after August 31, 2025. The board stressed that strict adherence to these timelines will assure smooth exam training for 35 lakh children abroad and in India.

This notification emphasises CBSE’s intent to remove final minute delays and bring uniformity in handling admissions and subject modifications across its schools.
