CBSE allows the use of calculators for children with special needs in class 10 and 12 exams

From this year, the Children with special needs (CWSN) will be allowed the use of calculators in the board exams of class 10 and 12. The calculators that are allowed are the basic ones capable of arithmetical operations.

Back in 2018, the CBSE had allowed the students with special needs to use laptops and computers to write their exams.

"The board has decided to facilitate students under Children with Special Needs (CSWN) category by permitting use of simple basic calculator during Class X and Class XII board examination," CBSE Controller for Examination Sanyam Bhardwaj said in a letter sent to schools.

The use of calculator will only be allowed for the students who are already registered under the CWSN category for the year’s board exams.

In order to be able to use calculator in the exams, the students under the CWSN category are required to apply with their school Principals who, in turn, will forward their request to the CBSE regional office. The use of the calculator will only be allowed to the students after they apply with appropriate certificates.
