India Chapter of GISA Launched

The Global Independent Schools Association (GISA) is a forum which was established with the objective to become the go-to voice of the global independent education sector and act as a resource for governments and global institutions to work together. Its India chapter was launched on 29thMarch, 2023, inviting more than 340,000 private schools across the nation to join the first representative body for the Worldwide Independent K-12 Education Sector. The National Chapter of GISA India is headed by Dr Ashok Pandey, senior educationist and former director of Ahlcon Group of Schools.

The event’s primary objective is to be in sync with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in order to improve world’s education provisions through sharing of knowledge. According to a recent survey, more than 13% of primary school students and 50% of secondary students in our country are enrolled in private institutions. With the aim to improve the education system worldwide, the GISA India chapter prioritises sharing of knowledge between the schools of independent and government sectors.

GISA gives a platform where the vast collection of knowledge and expertise can be shared within the private education sector. It also works with governments and policymakers aiding in enhancing the standard of education provided in both private and public schools. Speaking at the event was Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO of Nord Anglia Education and Chairman of the GISA's Executive Board. He noted that independent schools are frequently at the forefront of innovation, introducing new pedagogical approaches, technological advancements, and methodologies. GISA can offer significant insight and best practises that will help both state and independent schools worldwide.
